Nagarmotha
Scientific Name: Cyperus rotundus L. / Cyperus Scariosus
Other Common Names: (a) Motha
Usage: Nagarmotha has a long history as an herbal remedy in several nations and therefore it is imbedded in native medical systems of various countries. It works as an anti-inflammatory medicine, a general and nervine tonic, and a promoter of uterine contractions too.
In India Ayurveda, it is used for the treatment of diarrhea, dysentery, diabetes, arthritis, leprosy, bronchitis, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, fever and blood disorders.
In West Asia, it is applied in folk medicine for the treatment of leprosy, fever, thirst and blood illnesses.
In Egypt, it is used in traditional medicine for various diseases.
Apart from the above, Nagarmotha is also the raw material of some perfumes and mosquito repellents.
